Liquidity and profitability tightened during the summer, but suppliers are optimistic that trading will improve, ahead of the fourth-quarter holiday season. The RapNet Diamond Index (RAPI™) for 1-carat diamonds fell 0.6% in August and declined 3.8% since January 1.

Most Retailers Won’t Sell Synthetics Anytime Soon                                    Sep. 04 

More than half of retailers will not sell synthetic diamonds in the coming year, according to the results of a survey done by the Diamond Producers Association (DPA). Some 61% of retailers who took part in the survey, said they would “absolutely not” sell synthetics over the course of the next 12 months, the DPA said.
